The present study aims to investigate the gender differences in the relationship of altruism with empathy of adolescents. The present study was carried out on 240 adolescents (120 girls & 120 boys) in the age group of 16-18 years from Government Senior Secondary schools of Ludhiana District. For data collection, Socio-personal Information Sheet, Altruism Scale (Rai & Singh) and Empathy Scale (Dubey & Tandon) were used. The results revealed that majority of the adolescents had higher level of altruism. However, gender wise differences indicated that girls were found to be more altruistic and more empathetic as compared to boys. Statistically significant and positive correlation existed between altruism and empathy across both the genders. Keywords

Brightness is one of the characteristics of colour image to specify its visual information. Features of the image are enhanced so that the result so produced can be used for specific application. The theory of fuzzy sets have been applied to enhance the brightness of a colour image. The RGB colour model is not suitable for enhancement as the colour components are not decoupled. So, HSV model is used. By increasing the value of V, the brightness increases. The different membership functions i.e. triangular, trapezoidal, Gaussian and bell shaped have been applied to the V and results are compared and analyzed so as to produce brighten colour image. Keywords

This paper presents a technique for face recognition based on Binary Locality Preserving Projections. Locality preserving projections is a method that preserves the local structure of an image, and it use nearest neighbor search. But nearest neighbor search decreases its capability in terms of time. In the proposed approach the Laplacian is used but prior knowledge of each face to its class is used, which removes the Nearest Neighbor search, removal of this step enhances its capability in terms of time. So it is a combination of Laplacian and LDA in which LPP tries to preserve the local structure and LDA tries to match the face using Euclidean Distance. Locality Preserving Projections (LPP) is non-orthogonal, and this makes it difficult to reconstruct the data. In BLPP orthogonal basis functions are used which helps in better reconstruction of data. Keywords
